ETIS, Ten Inspiring Women Scientists

The ETIS laboratory (Equipes Traitement de l’Information et Systèmes), consisting of the CNRS, ENSEA, and CY Cergy Paris Université, has promoted equality and gender parity within its teams for several years. One of the recent initiatives by its “Equality, Parity, Otherness” committee is to highlight the achievements of ten female researchers through a bilingual book and an accompanying English-language film. This critical work addresses the underrepresentation of women in various scientific disciplines.

Jacopo de Nardis among the 2021 ERC Starting Grant winners

The ERC (European Research Council) Starting Grants, created in 2007, reward talented researchers of all nationalities with 2-7 years of experience since completion of PhD. These grants are part of the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. In January 2022, Jacopo de Nardis, a researcher at the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics and Modelling (LPTM) of CY Cergy Paris University, was awarded an ERC Starting Grant alongside 396 other early-career researchers. Jacopo de Nardis won this grant with his project entitled "Hydrodynamics and entropy production in lowdimensional quantum systems".

When the Covid crisis inspires a Human and Social Sciences Chair in partnership with the Ile-de-France Region

In April 2022, CY Initiative, with funding from the Ile-de-France Region, launched the Human and Social Sciences Chair headed by Marie Kerveillant, a research engineer at ESSEC.In the midst of the Covid 19 health emergency, hospital structures were put to the test over a long period of time. Before that, some hospitals had experienced other major crises, such as the massive influx of injured people during the terrorist attacks in Paris and Nice. It seems essential for these hospital structures, and in particular for the crisis medical departments, to develop their resilience in the face of the various crises they may be confronted with in in the future. This chair aims to work on the role of crisis medical departments within hospital structures, to see how they have evolved since the Covid 19 health crisis, and how they could improve their resilience.Interview with Marie Kerveillant, holder of the Human and Social Sciences Chair.

Under ionic skin

Cédric Plesse, Giao Nguyen and Frédéric Vidal of the Laboratory of Physicochemistry of Polymers and Interfaces (LPPI) of CY Cergy Paris University participated, within the framework of a study carried out by Canadian researchers, in the development of a new theory on the how charge and tension are generated in hydrogels. Explanations on the applications, particularly in medicine, of the results published in "Science" on April 28, 2022.
