Internationalisation of programmes

International partnerships enable the development of various types of international training programmes as well as ambitious, co-funded international projects.

Dual degrees and off-campus degrees

CY Cergy Paris Université offers dual degrees and off-campus degrees in partnership with foreign universities located around the world.

Dual degrees enable students to benefit from a programme recognised by two university systems and to obtain a national degree from CY Cergy Paris Université and a degree from the partner institution. As genuine vehicles for international engagement, they foster the development of intercultural skills and significantly enhance graduates’ employability.

Off-campus degree programmes enable students to obtain a national degree from CY Cergy Paris Université whilst studying at their home institution. These degrees guarantee high academic standards, identical to those offered in France, thanks to the direct involvement of lecturers and partners from CY Cergy Paris Université. This model promotes the strengthening of local skills and academic excellence on an international scale. It thus serves as a powerful lever for academic cooperation and the dissemination of knowledge.
Some off-campus degrees are linked to dual degrees.

Foreign-language-taught programmes

CY Cergy Paris Université offers programmes taught entirely in foreign languages, such as English or Spanish. These programmes help to enhance the institution’s international appeal to non-French-speaking students.

Open Borders Projects

In addition to internationally recognised degrees, a number of educational initiatives have been developed to support the internationalisation of students’ study programmes.

International partnerships enable the development of both participatory and innovative projects and more ad hoc initiatives, bringing together the complementary expertise of students from CY Cergy Paris Université and those from the partner university.

EUTOPIA-accredited teaching modules

EUTOPIA teaching modules are existing courses from the curriculum, enhanced by one or more inter-university learning activities, thereby adding an international dimension. These activities bring together students from several universities within the alliance, facilitating transnational and intercultural interaction and collaboration. The formats and delivery methods are flexible and varied (online, face-to-face, hybrid, projects, field studies, surveys, debates, comparative studies, creative projects, student conferences, competitions, etc.) and are designed within the Connected Learning Communities EUTOPIA here are a few examples.

EUTOPIA - Legal History

Each student chooses a project topic related to the history of law; they meet online four or five times a year for a coffee break to discuss their respective projects and give each other feedback. Around February or March, where possible, they meet in person (at one of the alliance’s universities) and present the progress of their projects to their peers and supervising lecturers. Towards the end of the year, the results of each project are published in an online exhibition.

EUTOPIA - Interdisciplinary research methodology in Social Sciences

Students are grouped into inter-university teams; they choose a topic or issue relating to migration or sustainable development and work on it independently for three to four weeks. They present their findings in the form of a video and a poster during a plenary session (held online, with discussions).

EUTOPIA - Inequalities in Contemporary Societies - A Quantitative Approach

Students first attend three joint sessions with experts on the topic of inequality. They then work in groups to choose a topic on which to conduct research over a few weeks, and present their findings—incorporating statistical data—in the form of a short video during a plenary session (held online, with discussions).

EUTOPIA - Data Protection and New Digital Tools

Joint lecture with a lecturer from VUB Brussels University on the topic of data access requests, followed by a group assignment involving a data access request exercise on a digital service platform. Presentation of the analysis results during a plenary session.

EUTOPIA - Artificial intelligence - Machine Learning

A series of 12 lectures with lecturers and students from the University of Warwick (UK) on the topic of machine learning for physicists.

Innovation Challenges - EUTOPIA

A hackathon-style programme lasting 3 to 5 days in person, every six months (usually in May and November) at one of the alliance’s universities, where students form inter-university and interdisciplinary teams to brainstorm and identify potential solutions to challenges set by local businesses, organisations and institutions.

Teamwork - EUTOPIA

International online programme, where students work in teams (across universities and disciplines), on a part-time basis and remotely for four weeks, on a challenge or problem set by a partner company, association or European institution, under the supervision of a mentor. This programme offers a chance to gain a foothold in the professional world, as well as experience of working in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team.

SpaceHACK for Sustainability (S4S) with Arizona State University (ASU)

SpaceHACK for Sustainability is an international hackathon organised by Arizona State University. It invites students to explore how space technologies and satellite data can contribute to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Over two days, student teams from around the world, both in person and remotely, work on real-world problems related to current social, environmental and economic challenges. Mentored by lecturers and experts, participants use tools such as Google Earth Engine to analyse real-world data and propose innovative solutions with a significant societal impactw: SpaceHACK for Sustainability (S4S) with ASU et CY Cergy Paris University.

Summer Schools

Summer Schools are intensive study programmes offered every year during the summer. Lasting several days or weeks, these programmes provide an opportunity to deepen subject-specific knowledge and develop language skills.

Manga: ‘Under the Sky of Auvers’

Manga: ‘Under the Sky of Auvers’ is the result of a unique collaboration between the Val-d'Oise department, CY Cergy Paris Université and Osaka Sogo Design College. Conceived and written by students from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (LSH) under the supervision of Jean-François Puff, then translated and coordinated by students from the Faculty of International and Intercultural Studies (FE2I) alongside Anne-Sophie Godot and Grégoire Sastre, this project came to life thanks to the graphic design skills of the students from Osaka. As they turn the pages, readers follow Van Gogh to Auvers-sur-Oise, amidst luminous landscapes, iconic monuments and the inspiration behind one of his final works, Wheatfield with Crows.

Recognising students’ international experience

Measures are being put in place to highlight students’ international experience and thereby enhance their employability.

International label

International label is a scheme enabling students at CY Cergy Paris Université to have their international experiences recognised. It comes with an Open Badge, which is valued in the professional world.

EUTOPIA Micro-certifications

Certain inter-university learning activities, linked to courses accredited within the European EUTOPIA alliance, may be associated with an EUTOPIA micro-certificate. This certificate confirms that the learning objectives have been met and/or that skills have been developed through the short-term learning experience.

EUTOPIA Internationalisation Certificate

Programme for building a portfolio of international experiences which serves as proof of the student’s international profile and can be showcased to future employers. To help them put together their portfolio, the programme includes a series of online seminars on topics such as showcasing one’s experiences and intercultural understanding, enabling students from various universities to exchange ideas and share feedback.
