Studying abroad

Would you like to study abroad?

Erasmus+

The Erasmus+ programme enables students to study abroad at a partner European university and/or undertake a work placement in a European company. Periods abroad take place in the first year for work placements and in the second year for studies.
The length of stay is between 3 and 12 months (reduced to 2 weeks within the framework of BUT – Bachelor universitaire de technologie – work placements).
The Erasmus+ university exchange programme is the European Commission’s flagship initiative in the field of education. Since 1987, the Erasmus and Erasmus+ programmes have provided a unique academic, intercultural and multilingual experience for hundreds of thousands of European students.

Programmes outside Europe, MICEFA (North America, United States)

It is also possible to study in countries outside the European Union through bilateral agreements between universities or via specific programmes such as the MICEFA programme (for mobility programmes in the United States and North America).

CY Cergy Paris Université has established bilateral partnerships with a number of institutions abroad (Brazil, Japan, South Korea, Colombia, etc.), which enable the development of mutual relations in the fields of scientific research and education.

Agreements may be multidisciplinary, if concluded between universities (framework agreement), or by discipline, if concluded between departments.

EU4EU France

The EU4EU France network is a network of 11 higher education institutions that awards grants for internships abroad in the field of European funds. Find out more about the EU4EU France Programme and its various benefits by browsing through the EU4EU programme brochure (PDF - 315 Ko) or the presentation of the EU4EU programme (PDF - 679 Ko).

Please note: If you are selected to undertake an internship abroad through the EU4EU programme, you will need to complete certain administrative procedures online for the University of Lille, which manages the programme. However, you will also be required to follow the procedures relating to placements abroad at your home university (registration and uploading of placement documents to ESUP Stage, etc. – see the ‘placement mobility’ tab).

Work placements abroad

Would you like to do a work placement abroad?

Important: You will only receive a mobility grant for your work placement if it is part of your course of study and is therefore compulsory. In addition, the work placement has to last for at least two months (in the case of departure on a work placement through the Erasmus+ programme).

The steps you need to follow for your work placement

  • Once you have found your placement, you must generate your placement agreement and your placement summary form using the ESUP Stage tool (available via the digital campus portal). The placement agreement must be signed by all parties involved, and the placement summary form must be signed by your course coordinator and then by the International Education and Mobility Department.
  • The International Education and Mobility Department will issue a favourable or unfavourable opinion on your internship summary form, based on safety considerations in your host country (see on the France Diplomatie website). Please ensure that your summary form is signed off by your training manager before sending it to the International Training and Mobility Department.
  • Once we have approved your summary form, we will send you a link to our MoveON portal so that you can apply for mobility funding (via Erasmus+ or the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, depending on your circumstances and destination).
  • You will need to complete and submit three mobility forms online (before departure, on arrival abroad and at the end of your placement).
You will be asked to upload supporting documents (such as a copy of your placement agreement, ID card, health insurance card, Erasmus+ mobility pack, CROUS grant notification, etc.) at certain stages of your mobility.
  • Finally, the Mobility Support Unit will determine whether you are eligible after reviewing your online application. If so, you will receive 80% of your financial support after you arrive abroad. The remaining 20% will be paid at the end of your mobility period, upon your return to France.
  • Before you leave, please remember to register on the Ariane website and provide details of your destination country. This information is useful for embassies so that they can contact you should an evacuation be necessary.
  • Please ensure that you upload all the required supporting documents to the MoveON portal before submitting your forms, so that your application can be processed more efficiently and quickly.

International mobility grants

International mobility grants are available to students seeking to pursue higher education abroad within the framework of an exchange programme, or for the completion of compulsory work placements abroad.

Basic principles

  • Being a student at CY Cergy Paris University.
  • The payment of mobility grants is neither compulsory nor automatic.
  • Multiple mobility grants are not possible: single source of funding only.
  • However, students receiving social criteria-based grants from the students’ welfare office (CROUS) continue to receive their CROUS grants during their period abroad and may be awarded a mobility grant by one of the two funding bodies (subject to eligibility criteria, of course).
  • The rules for the allocation of grants vary each year depending on the number of applicants and the available budget.
  • Payment of the grant in two instalments: 80% during the period abroad and 20% at the end of the period abroad.
  • In case of interruption of the period abroad, the amount of the grant will be recalculated and the student will be required to repay any excess amount received.

How to apply for a mobility grant

  • Study mobility: online procedure via the MoveON platform when compiling your mobility application
  • Work placement mobility: online procedure via the MoveON platform once your work placement summary form has been approved

Possible destinations

Would you like to go abroad for part of your studies or do a work placement in another country?
Follow these two steps:

  • Step 1: Using our search tool on the MoveON platform, consult the various existing agreements by country, and by subject.
  • Step 2: Contact your academic advisor in order to find out the possible destinations and to discuss your foreign study project as a whole.
No foreign study is possible without prior approval from the academic advisor responsible for international relations for your department or faculty.

For students at the Law Faculty, additional information is provided on the partnerships in law alone.
